Filler

Which Filler is Best for Me?

Dermal Fillers are a great way to soften some of the signs of aging and enhance facial features. When used judiciously, they will give a beautiful, natural, subtle result.  We absolutely LOVE fillers and most of our clients do as well.

Whether you have made the decision to have fillers or you are still researching, it is important to understand some key features of dermal fillers, where they go and how they can be used. There are so many different products on the market is difficult to know where to start. Not all fillers are created equal.  Let’s examine some of the different applications of fillers.

There are hyaluronic acid fillers (HA fillers like Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero or Restylane)
There are fillers made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (Radiesse) or Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra).
To simplify, fillers can be thin, medium or thick. Fillers have uses and applications that are specific to the product. Not all products can be used interchangeably.

For example, for midface volumizing, for recreating lost fat pads, for lifting, we like the thick, long lasting fillers like Radiesse or Voluma. These can also be great in the lower face as well, for jowls or the corners of the mouth.

For lips we love Juvederm. Some clients prefer Belotero for lips, because it gives a very soft, undone look, but we always caution them it will not last as long as Juvederm.

For upper lip lines, or crow’s feet, and tear troughs we love Belotero because it is super light, just perfect to be injected into those pesky wrinkles or tear troughs.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! There are so many areas to treat with fillers. Each filler will perform better or worse in certain areas. You need to use the correct product in the correct area.

Advertising is so powerful, people often ask for a particular filler by name. Sometimes they think they need something that may not be the optimal product for their concern. People often just want to know how much a filler is; they just want to know the price.   At Medical Aesthetics of Hudson Valley, we know that having a full in depth consultation before fillers is the most prudent approach to fillers. Correct use of fillers requires so much more than just a quick “How much is it?” It is important to examine the facial structure first.  Talk to a skilled injector instead of letting price determine your treatment. Let us help you figure out what product goes where, how much you need and how to make a budget.
