Threads

Lift and rejuvenate the face without the traditional surgical procedure. A PDO Thread Lift (Threads) is an in-office procedure using temporary sutures to produce a subtle but visible "lift" in the skin and facial structure. These sutures pull the skin back slightly to lift and tighten the face. In addition to being ideal for lifting the skin, threads combat aging in another way: by provoking the body's "healing response" causing the body to direct large surges of collagen to treated areas. This aids in rejuvenation and neovascularization of the skin, along with the vital role collagen plays in the aging process.

What are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are thin, biodegradable, synthetic suture materials made of Polydioxanone. PDO threads are well established and have been used in general surgery for years. We use the threads to anchor sagging facial skin and fat tissue, which provide and add support for the underlying structures of the face for a noticeable lift. PDO threads offer a unique blend of skin lifting and tightening for a non-surgical, minimally invasive alternative to a traditional face lift procedure. While the underlying support structures of the face are lifted by the threads, the skin is simultaneously stimulated to produce collagen, which promotes natural skin tightening and improves skin elasticity. It provides skin lifting through mechanical effect, cellular renewal through collagen stimulation, and neovascularization to improve skin texture, fine lines and elasticity.

What areas do Threads treat?

PDO threads are versatile and require a licensed and skilled practitioner to deliver ideal results and patient safety. PDO Threads can be used throughout the body where there is sagging or drooping.

What can I expect during a Threads treatment?

Dr. Dean Bloch will make a small opening through which needles with threads are inserted. The needle is then removed, and the thread is left suspended in place to lift the skin. When the threads are inserted, they cause the body to produce inflammation, which then signals the body to boost collagen production. This is how the targeted areas increase facial volume as well as volume on other parts of the body.

Do Threads hurt?

Prior to treatment you will be anesthetized with lidocaine injection to assure optimal comfort. We have Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) as well. Mild pain and pressure may be present during and post treatment process.

What are the results from Threads?

Results are immediately noticeable to you and continue to increase over the next few months as the body fully absorbs the threads. These results typically last between six months and one year.

Is there downtime after Threads?

Plan accordingly. Bruising and swelling may occur. Tightness, discomfort, tenderness are  likely. Plan on 2 weeks until everything settles. Post treatment, it is recommended to avoid vigorous exercising for 1 full week. Avoid any/all pressure on the treated area as it can alter your results.

It takes 2-4 weeks for the threads to securely attach to tissue and any pressure can disrupt the results. We recommend sleeping on your back and elevated to refrain from pressure on treated areas. Wash your face gently, use soap and water only for the first 24 hours to minimize any chance of infection and pat dry (no rubbing). Avoid saunas, hot yoga, laser treatments (on face), facials, facial massages and the dentist (if treating cheek-jawline area) for 8-10 weeks.

Some patients return to work immediately following their treatments while others may want to stay at home for a few days.

Are Threads safe?

PDO Threads are safe. Compared to fillers (widely used for aesthetic practice) the side effects are, in fact, much milder. PDO threads are inserted via cannulas/needles to stimulate collagen production and aid in instant lifting without the risks of vascular or arterial occlusion. Polydioxanone is the same suture material that is used in practice up to date for cardiac and orthopedic surgical procedures. PDO is an absorbable suture material. PDO threads are FDA approved.

How long do results From PDO Threads last?

With any aesthetic treatment, results vary depending on environmental and lifestyle differences. PDO threads generally dissolve between 3-4 months depending on thread, gauge, and area in which they are placed. Long Term results can last 12-18 months.
