Combination treatments yield the best results.

Here’s how the consultation goes in our office:

Me: “Tell me what bothers you.”

Client: These lines (points to laugh lines) and these pouches (grabs jowls) and my neck (wiggles and pinches under the chin.)

What the client is talking about is everything that happens in the lower face and neck. While we don’t have a single magic bullet, we have a full range of treatments that if used in combination can make a dramatic and natural looking result. There are several different things going on all at one time.

Let’s take them one at a time:

1. Address the quality of the skin.

Skin tissue is loses elasticity and collagen. We want to consider tightening the skin and improving quality with aradio frequency treatment. We have several to choose from including Thermage, 3Deep or RF Microneedling Intensif. These treatments tighten the skin and improve the density of collagen fibers. Skin Tightening is recommended every two years. Remember, radio frequency stimulates collagen fibers and tightens the skin. These treatments can be done on both the face and neck.

2.Take care of the double chin with Coolmini or Kybella.

Double chin is the easiest thing to take care of and these treatments yield excellent results. Both get rid of fat cells permanently. Yes, the skin retracts.

3. Yeah, you need fillers.

1) Midface first: When you fill the midface it improves the lower face as well. Correcting volume loss in the midface cheeks helps re-proportion the face as it “lifts” tissue. If you simply put filler in the lower face without addressing the mid, your jaw will look heavier and more square. Definitely not what you want.

2) Next, the jawline itself: Carefully placed filler on the jawline is super helpful in defining your natural angles and hiding jowls. We like to put some in the chin, as well, to really tighten up the profile. As we age, we lose bone density. Adding filler to the jawline and chin strengthens and defines the entire area from the chin to the ear by mimicking or replacing structure.

4. Botox can help the neck, too.

Sometimes the neck muscles pull the lower face down. When we strategically use Botox in the platysma bands of the neck, it can help relax the muscles and pull them up and in. This is called the Nefertiti Neck Lift.

If you're looking for a better profile, a more defined neck, a slimmer jawline, or to look more sculpted – some or all of these treatments can be considered.
