Microneedling
Microneedling and Why We Love Collagen Induction Therapy
One of the hottest trends in skincare is sweeping through the nation and we are kind of crazy these days for it! From celebrities to top plastic surgeons, people are making this treatment a staple in their arsenal of treatments for rejuvenating the face. Micro needling is fast and easy to tolerate and produces great results! It’s a fabulous way to rejuvenate the skin, without too much down time. With that being said, you can definitely expect a couple of days’ post treatment where your skin will feel tight, dry and red. Mild swelling is to also be expected immediately after.
However, the end result will be well worth it! You will be left new and youthful skin.
Micro needling is also called collagen induction therapy; just a wordy way to day “stimulates collagen.” During this procedure, many tiny wounds are created in the skin. These controlled micro wounds stimulate collagen and stimulate growth factors. These small injuries encourage the skin to re-grow, repair and rejuvenate the skin. This is a great way to deliver ingredients such as PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), stem cells, growth factors or hyaluronic acid. It’s great for fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation and even stretch marks. I find micro needling particularly beneficial around the upper lip, crow’s feet and acne scars.
We use a small pen like device that quickly, efficiently, mildly and gently wound the skin to promote growth, regeneration and rejuvenation.
This procedure takes about an hour. We numb you with a topical anesthetic for 20-30 minutes. The actual procedure takes about 30 minutes. You will be red and may have minimal bleeding, so please plan ahead. Do not schedule anything for at least a couple of days. After 3 days you’ll be in good shape. We recommend a series of treatments about one month apart.
After your treatment, watch for skin tightening, acne scar remodeling, wrinkle reduction and an overall glow in your skin. We love this procedure!
