Fraxel can help you look and feel more youthful by removing sun damage and wrinkles. At Medical Aesthetics of the Hudson Valley, work with a highly-trained Fraxel Laser Specialist and experienced member of The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Fraxel Laser Treatments are revolutionary in resurfacing fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and stretch marks. We proudly use Fraxel re:store Dual, the gold standard for acne scar removal. Traditionally, methods for resurfacing the skin were invasive, and recovery time was up to two weeks. With Fraxel, down time is minimal.
How does Fraxel work?
Fraxel penetrates deep into the dermis to create micro-thermal zones (MTZs). These MTZs trigger your body's natural collagen production. As a result, the skin tightens and pigmentation is normalized.
With each treatment, Fraxel targets only a fraction of the skin's surface, leaving the skin's epidermal layer in tact. This allows for fast healing and great results, so your life is not interrupted.
How many sessions do I need?
For best results, 3 to 5 sessions are suggested, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. Staggering the sessions is safer and healthier for your skin.
Does Fraxel hurt?
Only mild discomfort has been reported, and has been best described as prickly. To ensure minimal discomfort, we use a topical numbing cream on the skin, administered one hour before each session, and a Zimmer Cooler (cold air) during the treatment.
How much down time can I expect?
You will experience a mild sunburn sensation for about an hour immediately following your Fraxel treatment. The skin may have a pinkish tone for 5 to 7 days. This is a normal sign that the skin is healing.
Slight swelling may occur and is generally mild and will resolve in 5 to 7 days. Like a sunburn, some clients may peel. While healing, avoid direct sun exposure and wear at least a 30 SPF sunblock at all times.
